114
QUOTATIONS FROM THE REPORT
of the
SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, MR. KENNETH COOMBS
Field Trips
Field trips are an important part of the educational
program of an elementary school. Trips are planned with
the utmost care and often parental help is sought in assur-
ing safety at all times. Teachers insist upon good conduct
and do everything they can to make the journey one of
many worthwhile learning experiences.
This year trips have been taken to:
The Cape Cod Museum of Natural Science, Brewster,
Mass.
The Ocean Spray Cranberry Co., Onset, Mass.
The Science Museum, Boston, Mass.
The Peabody Museum at Harvard University.
Sports
Our 7th and 8th grade baseball and basketball teams
have had several games with surrounding junior high
schools. Because of our small size compared to other schools,
we have been unable to win many games, but the experi-
ence and fellowship growing out of the games has been
very rewarding. The girls cheering squad made their suits
as part of their domestic science course. They are as at-
tractive as their cheers.
Graduation
Our graduation exercises were highlighted by the mes-
sage of an outstanding citizen of Cape Cod, Col. William M,
Tow (retired) of Falmouth, Mass. In his message to the
graduates, Col. Tow emphasized:
"Eighth Graders today know more than the ancient
scholars."
"Knowledge of the world doubles every ten years."
"As adults we have civic responsibilities, but with re-
sponsibilities we have civic obligations."
