115 <br />The meetings of the School Building Needs Committee <br />with the Superintendent of Schools -have been devoted to <br />studying: <br />1. Projected enrollment of the Mashpee Public <br />Schools from 1964 to 1971. <br />i <br />2. The possibility of building additional classrooms <br />to the Samuel G. Davis School. <br />3. The location of a new school. <br />4. The educational facilities in a future new school. <br />A full review of the Mashpee School problem was aired be- <br />fore Mr. Simeon Domas, Director of the Massachusetts School <br />Building Assistance Commission in Boston by the Superin- <br />tendent of Schools and the Mashpee School Building Needs <br />Committee. Mr. Domas was impressed with Mashpee's solu- <br />tion to the present problem in sending the seventh and eighth <br />grade pupils to Barnstable on a tuition basis. He said, "Take <br />the time to study your problem as you do not have enough <br />Junior High School pupils at present to build adequate facil- <br />ities to take care of their needs. It would be a very costly <br />venture at this time to try and do so. I recommend that you <br />continue to keep your fingers on the pulse of your problem <br />and work closely with your Superintendent of Schools. My <br />office will be ready to assist you at any time." <br />We are very pleased with the arrangements made by the <br />Superintendent of Schools to send our young Junior High <br />School pupils to Barnstable on a tuition basis. In the mean- <br />time, the Superintendent of Schools is studying the projected <br />enrollment in light of "Federal Impact" and will release the <br />report to the.
