;i <br /> 154 <br /> Report of the School Nurse <br /> To the School Committee and the <br /> F Citizens of Mashpee <br /> , i <br /> Herewith is my report as school nurse. <br /> Physical examinations were done on children in grades <br /> 1, 3, and 5 by Dr. Paul Jaques, our school physician. <br /> f Routine booster shots for P.D.T. and polio were given, if <br /> needed to grade 1 pupils and D.T. boosters to children in <br /> grade 5. Also children in all grades whose immunizations <br /> were incomplete according to Massachusetts law were brought ! <br /> up to date. Tine tests were administered to grade 1 pupils. ff <br /> Under the guidance of Mrs. Gilbert, Public Health Nurse, k <br /> the annual pre-school immunizations were done at the school <br /> Three clinics at monthly intervals were held. We are pleased <br /> With the parents, interest and cooperation. <br /> Mrs. Alice Dalzell, County Dental Hygienist, <br /> dental survey of all pupils. Much individual instruct on hs j <br /> given at this time. We were very proud to have a winner <br /> among the contestants in the Cape Dental Health Poster <br /> contest. As in previous years children needing immediate j <br /> dental care were transported y b 'Mrs. Stella Hicks to Dr. <br /> Martin in Hyannis for care. These clinics are sponsored by <br /> the Board of Health. k. <br /> Routine vision and hearing tests were done throughout <br /> all grades. <br /> We have been blessed by reasonably good health with <br /> ` no major outbreaks of illness. Absenteeism from the flu <br /> epidemic c near the end of the year was low. <br /> We are pleased with the closer contacts we have with <br /> the Child Guidance Clinic in Pocasset and the help given <br /> is much appreciated. <br /> I wish to thank everyone for assistance and counseling <br /> 1 given me and for the patience, understanding and coopera- <br /> tion extended to me. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> ANNA E.
