67
Report of the Chief of Police
TO: Honorable Board of Selectmen and
Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
The year 1968 has been one of challenge to our depart-
ment. We have strived to improve and achieve professional
status by raising the standards and subscribing to the Code
of Ethics. The code under which we function is to serve man-
kind, safeguard lives, be honest in both personal and official
life, allow no compromise for crime, enforce laws courteously
and to recognize the badge of office as a symbol of public
faith and accepting it as public trust to be held only as long
as we are true to the ethics of the police service.
We are proud to report that Sergeants Frye and Gon-
salves both successfully completed the six week course at
the Barnstable County Police Academy. The Chief and Sgt.
Gonsalves have been enrolled in courses at Northeastern
University since September 1968 and Sgt. Frye has been en-
rolled in the State Police Academy, 6 January to 14 February
1969. We hope to send the three regular patrolmen to the
1969 Barnstable County Police Academy class which will give
you an accredited police force.
A word about the Firearms Identification Permits. We
are of the opinion that many of the citizens have not regis-
tered as yet. All persons who possess firearms must register
at the police station effective 1 January 1969. There is no
:r? penalty if you have not registered.
APPOINTMENTS BY SELECTMEN
Police Department—Terms Expire 1969
POLICE CHIEF
George G.
