67
Fire Department and Forest Warden's Report
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the
Citizens of the flown of Mashpee
I hereby submit my report for the year ending December
31, 1969.
The Fire Department answered the following calls: I
House and Trailer Fires 11
Brush & Grass 17
Dump 12
Car Accidents & Fire 24
Flooded Oil Burners 3
Mutual Aid 9
B.W.O.P. 2 '!
Drowning 1
Boat Rescues 10
Flooded Cellars 11
Miscellaneous 20 !
Permit Fires 98
Missing Persons 3 I
Oil Burner Permits 36
Generally, the response to fire calls in 1969 was com-
parable to 1968. Car accidents, and oil burner permits have
increased this year due to the rapid growth of our town.
With the ever increasing number of dwellings in our
town, there is a need for a new fire truck and additional per-
sonnel to give the property and land owners better fire pro-
tection. I think that a new modern fire station which would
be more centrally located would provide a more rapid re- I
sponse and better protection to all locations within the town.
I am pleased to report that the new "Fire Rescue Boat"
has become a great asset to the department, it performed
well in deep water. On numerous occasions it was called out
to rescue persons from capsized boats also to go out to warn
water skiers who were violating restricted areas.
The call firemen are very pleased with their new insu-
lated fire fighting uniforms which are of great use during
cold wet months fighting fires.
tj
Respectfully submitted,
WARREN M. HICKS,
Fire Chief 4
l; I
I
