i 22 Report of the Fire Department To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: I hereby submit my report for the year ending December 31,. 1972. The response to 149 fire calls in 1972 are as follows: House and Trailers .................................................... 12 a Brush and Grass Fires ................................................ 26 DumpFires ................................................................ 6 Car accidents and Fires ............................................ 12 MutualAid ................................................................ 8 Gas Explosions ............................................................ 2 BoatRescue ................................................................ 23 Flooded Cellars ........................................................ 32 Miscellaneous Calls .................................................... 28 The demands of fire and emergency problems vary greatly with the increased growth of a community. In turn, the fire department has to change and improve to meet the problems of the time. .There- fore, I wish to emphasize that our fire department needs an addi- tional two (2) full time men so the citizens of this Town may have the fire protection and emergency service required for their protection. j ! All of our fire fighting equipment is in good condition except for the Fire Chief's truck which needs replacing with a 3/4 ton truck 1 to carry equipment. Unfortunately, during the year 1972, we had 1' several homes and trailers completely destroyed by fire.
