53 <br /> r <br /> Report of the Librarian <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br /> I hereby submit my report for the year ending December 1972. <br /> Number Bound Volumes 4,364 <br /> Adult 1,628 'I <br /> Juveniles 1,972 <br /> Reference Books all ages 764 <br /> Total number volumes of: <br /> Adult books circulated 118 F <br /> Juvenile books circulated 211 <br /> Total Books circulated 329 r' <br /> New books have been purchased as in the past with town <br /> funds, the appropriation of $1,500. in the book account was com- <br /> pletely exhausted this year. <br /> Books have been donated by Friends of the Library, also we <br /> now have subscribed to six popular magazines, two newspapers, one <br /> of which has been donated by a summer resident. <br /> We are very thankful for the Eastern Regional book depository <br /> which is located in Yarmouthport, where books of all ages and sub- <br /> jects may be borrowed free of charge for a number of weeks. We <br /> recently had on display and for readers to borrow a fine set of <br /> books about the American Indian which were very popular in the <br /> young adult class, these were borrowed from the Yarmouthport <br /> depository. <br /> During a recent meeting of the Eastern Regional Libraries we <br /> were given a talking book machine to be used by the blind shutins <br /> etc. No age limit is required. This machine may be used by any <br /> Town resident who is eligible by calling the Library. Records of <br /> their choice will be ordered for them. A certain period of time will <br /> be allowed for its use and will be delivered to your home, demon- <br /> strated and picked up at the end of the borrowing date. <br /> All clubs, organizations etc. are encouraged to borrow films <br /> for their use, of which the subjects are plentiful, these may be <br />
