55 <br /> Report of the <br /> Superintendent of Pest Control <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee <br /> i <br /> i <br /> I hereby submit my report for the year ending 1973. <br /> The Gypsy Moth was pretty bad around the Mashpee <br /> Lake and Johns Pond areas and by the time I had finished <br /> the roads and got around to those areas some or most of <br /> those Gypsy Moths were in a dormant stage where they don't <br /> eat but just stay there and go into another stage. <br /> Two years in a row now the truck has broken-down right <br /> in the middle of Spraying Season, losing a week the year be- <br /> fore and two weeks last year. The truck is twenty-two years <br /> old so it is not surprising that rubber and neoprene is break- <br /> ing down, so more of the same can be expected. You simply <br /> cannot buy the parts, they have to be made up special. This <br /> is why I am asking for a new stake body truck to haul the <br /> Sprayer. <br /> We spent six thousand dollars for the spraying of the Pine <br /> Looper and I believe it was money well spent. <br /> Last year, the day before Pow-Waw, it was brought to <br /> my attention that the Collins place, site of the Pow-Wow, <br /> was loaded with Japanese Beetles, so I went there with a con- <br /> tact spray and the next day the Beetles had all disappeared. <br /> Labor has gone up, Insecticide, gas and oil, so I am <br /> afraid syraying will have to go up too. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> STACEY D.
