113 <br /> Report of the <br /> Mashpee Waterways Committee <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> and Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br /> The Mashpee Waterways Committee, during the 1974 <br /> season, concentrated on the problems of enforcing rules and <br /> regulations on both Salt and Fresh Waters. It recommended <br /> names of candidates to the Board of Selectmen for their <br /> approval of Assistant Harbor Masters and Mashpee Water- <br /> ways Special Police. The Selectmen approved the following <br /> Mashpee Waterways Committee's recommendations as Law <br /> Enforcement Officers: <br /> Stephen Bache Santuit Pond <br /> Louis Bonito Ockway Bay—Pirates Cove <br /> Charles Eckler Ashumet Pond <br /> Edward Garguilo Popponesset Bay <br /> Frank Homeyer Waquoit Bay Area <br /> William Marsters Mashpee-Wakeby Pond <br /> John Mates John's Pond <br /> Allan MacAuley New Seabury—Popponesset Bay <br /> i F.Norman Peterson Popponesset Bay <br /> Bernard Singer Popponesset Bay <br /> These Officers gave out 2 Citations; 68 Warnings, .23 <br /> Assists and innumerable verbal warnings resulting in a large <br /> reduction in offenses and behaviors. <br /> A special indoctrination session was held when Herbert <br /> McSorley, of the State Motor Boat Division; Lt. John Glenn, <br /> U.S. Coast Guard; Chief Michael Scanlon, U.S. Coast Guard <br /> and Mashpee Police Chief, George G. Bingham, Jr. outlined <br /> rules, regulations and procedures to help our officers in <br /> their carrying out of their duties. A similar open meeting <br /> is planned when the 1975 season opens. All interested in <br /> safe and proper boating conduct will be welcomed. <br /> Compliments were received from the State Division of <br /> Motor Boats and U.S. Coast Guard on the improvement in <br /> the number of offenders on the waters of Mashpee. Chief <br /> Bingham also reported reduction in his Department of prob- <br /> lems on our waters. <br />
