88
Report of the Chief of Police
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and
Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
During the year 1974, the anticipated growth of the
Town came to a near standstill which may or may not have
contributed to the increase in the crime rate.
BURGLARY (Breaking & Entering) This major'crime
area has increased by 241.8% noted by the total of 237 shown
in the "Daily Log Statistics".
LARCENY: An increase of 136.0010 is reflected in this
II' crime area.
ARRESTS: There were 127 persons arrested and 124
persons placed in "Protective Custody" for being incapaci-
tated atotal of 251 which exceeds the 198 sum of 1973.
We are attempting to combat this drastic increase with
imaginative ideas to reduce this ever increasing crime rate.
In 1974 a crime prevention program was established to in-
sti1T 'public awareness among the citizens. Our motto is:
"Report it' and we will respond". A patrolman has been
assigned to inform businessmen and you the residents of
the program. He will attend the University of Louisville, the
National Crime Prevention Institution, to learn and bring
Ill to you new ideas. We hope you all will get involved and
help reduce the criminal activity.
j APPOINTMENT BY SELECTMEN
1 POLICE DEPARTMENT
POLICE 'CHIEF
„i George G.
