Govoni, Associate Member <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen John J. Friel, Associate Member <br /> and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: B. Thomas Christian, Associate Member <br /> Elinor K. Walsh, Board Secretary <br /> The Board of Appeals is appointed by the Selectmen BOARD OF APPEALS <br /> and consists of three sitting members plus associate <br /> members as appointed from time to time.The Board acts <br /> under the authority of Chapters 40A and 40B of the <br /> Massachusetts General Laws and the Zoning By-Laws of <br /> the Town of Mashpee. Specifically,the Board of Appeals <br /> has the following powers: <br /> 1. To hear and decide Appeals of Decisions of the <br /> Building Inspector(or Zoning Enforcement Officer, <br /> if so designated)by any person aggrieved by reason <br /> of his or her inability to obtain a permit of enforce- <br /> ment actions. <br /> 2. To hear and decide applications for Special Per <br /> mits upon which the Board is empowered to act <br /> -Laws. <br /> under the Town By <br /> 3. To hear and decide petitions for Variances as set <br /> forth under State statute and Town By-Laws. <br /> 4.To hear and decide petitions for Comprehensive <br /> J; 41 <br /> Permits relative to low and moderate income hous- <br /> A <br /> In ing as set forth by Chapter 40B of the Massachusetts <br /> General Laws. <br /> A unanimous vote of the three sitting Board members <br /> is required for grant of a Special Permit or Variance. <br /> A total of 90 new applications were heard by the <br /> Mashpee Board of Appeals in the calendar year 1990.The <br /> Board collected $14,781.65 in application and abutters <br /> fees in 1990. <br /> Richard F. Halpern,a valued and dedicated Associate <br /> Member,resigned in June. In October the Board welcom- <br /> ed the appointment of B. Thomas Christian as an <br /> Associate Member. <br /> The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank <br /> the Building Inspector, Douglas S. Boyd, for his exper- <br /> tise in assisting the Board. <br /> Meetings of the Board of Appeals are normally held <br /> on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at <br /> 7:30 P.M. at the Town Hall.
