Report of the <br /> Board of Appeals <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br /> The Board of Appeals is appointed by the Selectmen <br /> and consists of three sitting members plus associate <br /> members as appointed from time to time.The Board acts <br /> under the authority of Chapters 40A and 40B of the <br /> Massachusetts General Laws and the Zoning By-Laws of <br /> the Town of Mashpee. Specifically,the Board of Appeals <br /> has the following powers: <br /> 1. To hear and decide Appeals of Decisions of the <br /> Building Inspector(or Zoning Enforcement Officer, <br /> if so designated)by any person aggrieved by reason <br /> of his or her inability to obtain a permit of enforce- <br /> ment actions. <br /> 2. To hear and decide applications of Special Per- <br /> mits upon which the Board is empowered to act <br /> under the Town By-Laws. <br /> 3. To hear and decide petitions for Variances as set <br /> forth under State statute and Town By-Laws. <br /> s for Comprehensive <br /> 4.To hear and decide petition <br /> Permits relative to low and moderate income hous- <br /> ing as set forth by Chapter 40B of the Massachusetts <br /> General Laws. <br /> A unanimous vote of the three sitting Board members <br /> s required for grant of a Special Permit or Variance. <br /> A total of 78 new applications were received by the <br /> Mashpee Board of Appeals in the calendar year 1991.The <br /> Board collected $8,388 in application and abutters fees <br /> in 1991. <br /> In October, B. Thomas Christian, a valued and <br /> dedicated Associate Member, resigned from the Board. <br /> The Board wishes to thank Mr. Christian for his valuable <br /> contribution to the Board. <br /> The Board would also like to thank the Building In <br /> spector, Douglas S. Boyd, for his expertise in assisting <br /> the Board. <br /> Meetings of the Board of Appeals are normally held <br /> on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at <br /> 7:30 P.M. at the Town Hall.
