panoag Tribe and Native Americans of the Northeast;
and vital records and documents about the Town of
Mashpee-its Boards, Committees, schools, community
groups, raods, rivers, lakes, buildings and people.
One of the highlights of.the year was a fund-raising
program planned and organized by Commission member
Joanne Ferragamo. Continental Cablevision Channel 20
donated twenty tickets to the Historical Commission for
the August 20 baseball game between the Boston Red Sox
and the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park. We were ac-
tive around town selling raffle tickets for pairs of tickets
to the game. A"fun ballgarne"was organized and played
at Heritage Park, between employees of Mashpee town
departments-temporarily named the"Mashpee Sluggers"
and the employees of Mashpee Commons and New
Seabury,named the"Mashpee Commons Comets."Dean
Driscoll of the Parks and Leisure Services department
joined Joanne Ferragamo in staging the game.Soft drinks
and hot dogs were donated by Mashpee businessmen. The
Giants/Cleveland Fenway Park game tickets were raffl-
ed during intermission. The net proceeds amounted to
$935 and is earmarked to be used for equipment for the
Archives Building.
Mrs. Charlotte Price continues to give us periodic con-
sulting services. Her background and wide experience as
an archivist is very helpful to Commission members, and
the professional knowledge she shares with us is a great
our activities.
asset to
As we conclude our 1991 activities,we are already plan-
ning for several "Open House" events for Mashpee
residents and summer visitors in the months ahead. We
feel confident that our programs and activities since the
Commission was re-activated in the fall of 1984 have been
worth all of the efforts and volunteer time we have
devoted to"identifying and recording the historic assets"
of the Town of Mashpee.
Respectfully submitted,
Mashpee Historical Commission
Rosemary Burns
Joanne Ferragamo
Ernestine Gray
Frank Hicks
Hazel Oakley
Marie Scalley
Ann Tanneyhill, Chmairperson
eT,
97
