Children in the second and third grades <br /> made a trip to Edaville in June with Mrs. Bannister. <br /> This trip was partly financed by the proceeds from a <br /> weekly newspaper produced by these children in 1949. <br /> II At Hallowe'en the teachers provided prizes for par- <br /> II I ticipants in a costume parade and a program of funny <br /> movies. Older brothers and sisters and parents came, <br /> til <br /> also, to enjoy the evening. This activity helped reduce <br /> the danger from Hallowe'en damage that was experi- <br /> enced in some of the neighboring towns. At Christmas <br /> I' each classroom had its own party as well as an assembly <br /> !i program. <br /> IJ <br /> Although parents are always welcome visitors at <br /> I,I school, it has of late years become our custom to set <br /> aside one special day during American Education Week <br /> when they a're specially urged to see their schools. This <br /> year forty-two visitors availed themselves of an oppor- <br /> tunity j I tunity to see typical classroom work, to talk with the <br /> III I teachers about their children, and to hear Mr. Sher- <br /> man Woodward of South Dennis tell about his now <br /> nationally famous hobby, the Driftwood Zoo, which he <br /> ii exhibited. <br /> i <br /> Two nights rate very special attention: Maytime <br /> Melodies and Graduation. In May the pupils in grades <br /> 3 through 8 produced a successful evening's musical <br /> entertainment at the New Town Hall. There were cho- <br /> rus numbers and solos including both old favorites and <br /> curent song hits, as well as original dialogues. Mrs, <br /> it l Nan R. McCann, music supervisior, directed the pro- <br /> gram, and Mrs. Bannister accompanied the numbers on <br /> the piano, with the other teachers assisting in mann <br /> ways.
