34 <br /> I <br /> Veterans' Service Department <br /> Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> The following is a report of the Department of Veterans' <br /> Services for the Town of Mashpee for the calendar year 1952. <br /> The appropriation for the year 1952 was $3,300.00 and the <br /> total expenditures were $2,111.15. Of the-total expenditures <br /> of $2,111.15, the Commonwealth will reimburse the Town of <br /> q <br /> Mashpee 50% or $1,055.58. This is the maximum amount pos- <br /> sible for the Town of Mashpee to be reimbursed by the Com- - <br /> I r monwealth. It represents 50% of the expenditures for the <br /> year 1952. <br /> r <br /> i The only permanent recipients for the year were widows <br /> and a totally disabled World War I veteran. Other recipients <br /> were aided from time to time because of sickness or unem <br /> ployment. All these cases were of a temporary nature. <br /> Federal pensions were secured on three occassions for <br /> eligible applicants through this Department. Four veterans <br /> ' were also placed in Veterans' Administration Hospitals. All <br /> of which relieved the Town of additional expense. <br /> Many other veterans and their dependents were assisted <br /> y� I' by me in problems relating to veterans' affairs other than <br /> Veterans' Benefits. These services included helping veterans <br /> on insurance problems, mustering out pay, disability claims, <br /> securing discharge papers for those who had lost the original, <br /> rehabilitation, schooling, etc. <br /> I ' <br /> ii <br />
