85
48
25 Report of the Superintendent of Schools
iD
75 To the School Committee and
— Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
75
I present herewith my second report as your Superin-
tendent of Schools. I am again combining the Principal's
report with mine to avoid duplication.
Es Last year I noted that the enrollment at the Samuel
G. Davis School in the three previous years had dropped
's from 77 to 56. At the time of this writing, the enrollment is
'1 64. With the expansion of Otis Air Force Base, there is every
indication that we can expect our enrollment to grow during
the next few years. We should be able to take this in stride
using our present building facilities and faculty.
B The key to handling our future educational program will
2 be determiined by the kind of faculty that meets this new
challenge. Mashpee students have a wide range of capaci-
ties. To help these young people grow intellectually, physi-
cally, and morally requires teachers with the ability to un- f ;;
derstand their many differences. I believe that you have
this type of understanding faculty. !_
i
Last summer Mrs. Edith T. Bannister resigned to accept
a position in a neighboring community. She is to be com-
mended for her fine service to the Town of Mashpee during ^
the eight years she was a member of the faculty. We are
fortunate to have, at present, Mrs. Elizabeth Pierce as her
replacement. Further changes will occur from time to time.
However, I am sure that you, the citizens, agree that every-
thing within reason should be done to obtain and keep this j
type of faculty.
E '
S
p
x
6
v.
