Without the dedicated men and <br /> Stolen Property 54 29 34 women that make up our department, my job would be <br /> Open Doors/Windows 39 21 36 impossible. I am very proud of Mashpee's Fire/EMS <br /> Assist Motor Vehicles/ personnel and my hat is off to them! <br /> Disabled Motor Vehicles 163 179 218 <br /> Animal Complaints 321 330 323 At the annual Town meeting last May, the voters <br /> Lost or Found Property 130 155 152 approved four new Firefighter/Emergency Medical j <br /> Escorts OS 6 _0_ Technician positions. I am pleased to report that <br /> Traffic Control & Richard Trask, Michael Cannata, John Lacava and <br /> Directed Patrol 1933 625 916 Roger Henson were selected for those positions and <br /> Public Assistance 611 630 469 they have proved to be great assets to the town during <br /> Follow-Up Investigations 241 174 135 their first six months with our department. <br /> Summons Served 253 396 290 Numerous members of our department are currently <br /> All Other Incidents 6308 6878 7659 working on various college degree programs.Congrat- <br /> ulations to Lieutenant Stephen Costello for completing <br /> Total Calls for Service 15,780 14,033 14,658 his graduate studies in management and earning an <br /> MBA from Providence College. <br /> Department Fleet <br /> In December, Firefighter.Stephen Cashman was certi- <br /> One 1977 Dodge 4x4 fied by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a <br /> One 1985 BMW Paramedic. Congratulations Steve! This certification <br /> Three 1992 Ford CRV culminates one year of training for Firefighter Cash- <br /> One 1993 Ford CRV man. In August,Firefighter Joseph Fellows completed <br /> Eight 1994 Ford CRV his paramedic training and is currently awaiting certi- <br /> fication from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. <br /> Upon completion of Firefighter Fellow's certification <br /> process, our department will have two paramedics ] <br /> assigned to each shift. This will give the department a <br /> total of ten certified paramedics, including the Deputy ] <br /> Chief and myself. ] <br /> Operations <br /> During 1995, the number of department responses <br /> t increased 10.2%. It is significant to note, that while <br /> responses increased 10%,the total dollar loss from fire <br /> was approximately $200,00.00 less that 1994. This t <br /> reduction in fire loss can be attributed to the strong 1 <br /> enforcement of the Town's Fire Alarm By Laws,more I <br /> available fire e fire- 1 <br /> hydrants and extremely aggressive Y gg i <br /> fighting by our firefighters. <br /> As reported above, our ability to fight fires continues 1 <br /> to improve as the Mashpee Water District expands it's r <br /> service area. This expansion combined with the large <br /> snow fall of Winter 1995-1996 caused a new challenge r <br /> for our department as fire hydrants were lost in the <br /> 86 <br />
