The eight week course, designed by the EDC, <br /> and local businesses provided a unique opportunity for <br /> new upstart businesses, and entrepreneurs to learn <br /> how to develop a business plan. Participants received <br /> advice about business management, ranging from <br /> basic bookkeeping systems to commercial lending <br /> activities. Close to thirty people enrolled in this eight- <br /> week program,and several remain on a waiting list for <br /> a probable fall session. The final session culminated <br /> with presentations by representatives of the Mashpee <br /> Industrial park and the Mashpee Chamber of Com- <br />,4 merce. Hopefully these new and exciting businesses <br /> heard the message laud and clear; Mashpee seeks to <br /> nurture and accommodate these potential success sto- <br /> ries. <br /> MARKETING EFFORTS <br /> Tasteful and eye catching ads about Mashpee were <br /> placed in notable publications such as Cape Cod Life <br /> Magazine and the New England Real Estate Journal. f <br /> The ad campaign, "Finding out why business is mov- <br /> ing to Mashpee", will be expanded to local newspa- <br /> pers early this summer.In addition to the ads,the Eco- <br /> nomic Development Office has prepared a target list of <br /> CEO's and high profile business executives who own <br /> second homes in Mashpee. These people will be <br /> receiving a comprehensive informational packet about <br /> Mashpee by the end of June. <br /> Lastly, the EDC has produced the"Discover Mash- <br /> pee" signs which appear with the "Welcome" signs <br /> and are found at all gateway locations in town. <br /> JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT <br /> Due to the efforts of the Mashpee Economic Devel- <br /> opment Committee, the Mashpee School Department <br /> and a grant from the Cape Cod Neighborhood Coali- <br /> tion, the Junior Achievement Program has been intro- <br /> duced into the Mashpee schools.
