Wildfire Planning EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATISTICS <br /> Wildfire mitigation projects continue in the <br /> Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. The use of RESPONSE DESCRIPTION 2013 2014 <br /> prescription fire for habitat restoration and fire fuels <br /> reduction was accomplished during the season on U.S. FIRES <br /> Fish and Wildlife property near Great Hay Road and Private Dwellings 15 24 <br /> Amy Brown Road. Many have commented on the Apartments 2 5 <br /> wide fuel break constructed on the U.S. Fish and Hotels &Motels 0 0 <br /> Wildlife property along Great Oak Road. These break All Other Residential 0 0 <br /> designs are instrumental in controlling fires on that Total Residential Fires 17 29 <br /> property which could spread towards property in the <br /> New Seabury area. The planned prescription bum Public Assembly 0 0 <br /> behind the Wampanoag government building was also Schools &Colleges 0 0 <br /> completed by a private contractor. All of these planned Health Care& Penal Institutions 0 0 <br /> prescription bums are accomplished with the existing Stores&Offices 0 1 <br /> j partnership of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Industry,Utility,Defense, <br /> Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Labs& Manufacturing 0 0 <br /> Recreation, Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife, Orenda <br /> Storage in Structures 0 2 <br /> Wildlife Land Trust,and the Town of Mashpee. Other Structures 1 2 <br /> Total Structure Fires 17 34 <br /> The Future <br /> There will be a different direction in operations Fires in Highway Vehicles 4 4 <br /> with respect to Wild Land Firefighting, as a new type Fire in Other Vehicles 1 0 <br /> of firefighting apparatus is scheduled to arrive before Fires Outside of Structures,Not Vehicles 10 6 <br /> the start of the wildfire season. This vehicle, along Fires in Brush,Grass &Wildland 12 6 <br /> with our tactics, will be centered on structural Fires in Rubbish 9 2 <br /> protection and a safer way to intercede with any fires, All Other Fires 1 2 <br /> utilizing natural or manmade barriers.
