Other large commer- <br /> cial projects such as Sovereign Bank, the new Fire <br /> Substation, the new Library and the next phase of <br />'e Mashpee Commons will be underway in the new year. <br />'n Mashpee continues to attract Quality development and <br /> n business. <br /> g ; <br />'n Despite fluctuations in our staff the Building <br /> Department continues to deliver the best Public <br /> Service of any Building Department on Cape. Our < <br /> long time Electrical inspector, John Newton, decided <br /> to retire and the untimely loss of part-time Inspector <br /> Hank Ralston saddened us immeasurably. Fortunately �I ` <br /> we were able to fill that void with a very competent <br /> u <br /> and personable new Inspector, Victor Devine. We also <br /> had to fill an open Clerical Position mid year and per- <br /> suaded Linda Hickey to complement our office and its <br /> service. <br /> This past year we decided to create a combined <br /> Design/Plan Review Committee in order to streamline <br /> the process.To date it seems to work quite well.It may <br /> seem intimidating to some applicants at first but in <br /> reality is very user friendly and often speeds up the <br /> reviews. On larger projects it helps to get everything <br /> on the table with different perspectives expressed at <br /> the very outset.More input up front makes for a better <br /> finished product for the Town. <br /> 103 <br /> I <br />
