For the 2008 fiscal
year, the Mashpee Public Schools have been allocated $279,000 by the legislature. Va
r
The $279,000 will be used for electricity at Mashpee High School. In anticipation of
these funds, the school committee reduced the line item for electricity at Mashpee High
School by $279,000.
One of the difficulties in determining a school district budget is that the state
contribution is not finalized until after the school committee's budget has been voted.
In an effort to assist school committees with budget planning for FY 08, a Joint
Resolution voted by the Legislature in April set Chapter 70 amounts. School districts
were advised to plan their budgets based on the Joint Resolution figures.
