For such larger subdivisions and complexes, <br /> two single face signs will be allowed, one for each side of the entrances, <br /> so long as the total signage does not exceed twenty (20) square feet per <br /> entrance. <br /> 1. Non-illuminated directional signs approved under a special permit <br /> applicable to a parcel, not to exceed six (6) square feet per sign. <br /> §17 -5 . Commercial and industrial districts. Signs shall relate to the premises on <br /> which they are located and shall only identify the occupancy of such premises or <br /> advertise the articles and services available within said premises, except as <br /> provided for in Section 174-50.C. <br /> A. Temporary special event signs) and decoration(s) as allowed by permit <br /> from the Building Inspector for special events, grand openings, or <br /> holidays. Such signs and decorations may be erected 7 days prior to a <br /> special event or holiday and shall be removed within 24 hours following <br /> the event or holiday. For grand openings, such signs may be used for no <br /> more than 7 days from the date of the opening. This excludes those signs <br /> which need Board of Selectmen approval. Such signs shall be limited to <br /> no more than twenty (20) square feet and may not be located closer than <br /> five (51) feet to any lot line or block a line of sight for pedestrian and traffic <br /> safety if so determined by the D.P.W. Director. <br /> B. Building signs are allowed up to 10% percent of the aggregate square <br /> footage of the front wall area, with wall area measured as total width times <br /> average height of the building wall elevation being measured. <br /> Determination of which wall area shall be considered the front shall be by <br /> the special permit granting authority for projects requiring a special <br /> permit, and by the Building Inspector where no special permit is required, <br /> with that wall facing the nearest street line normally considered the front. <br /> The square footage allowed may be applied to a single-sign, a series of <br /> signs representing individual businesses or any combination thereof. Such <br /> signs can be placed on or attached to any wall, but in no case shall the <br /> total of all building signs exceed 10% of the front wall square footage, nor <br /> shall any wall have signage exceeding 5% of that wall's aggregate square <br /> footage (with said limit including any projecting, window or awning <br /> signage). These signs can be any of the following: wall, window (per <br /> requirements in subsection E), projecting, and awning. The top edge of <br /> each such sign shall be not higher than the top edge of the wall and no <br /> higher than the plate of a flat roof. <br /> C. In an industrial or commercial district, one (1) freestanding sign is <br /> permitted on each lot, provided that it does not exceed (40) square feet in <br /> signboard area, does not exceed fifteen (15) feet in height and is not <br /> located closer than five (5) feet to any lot line or block a line of sight for <br /> pedestrian and traffic safety if so determined by the D.P.W.
