Motion made by Kenneth Marsters. <br /> Planning Board recommended approval in 2002. <br /> Motion: I move Article 24 be voted as printed in the warrant with the exception of the phrase, <br /> "or take any other action relating thereto". <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 8:40 pem. <br /> Article 25 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to adopt a bylaw regarding signage for private driveways as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 150-14. Any private driveway located within the Town of Mashpee, which is neither a <br /> public nor private way, as defined in the General Laws or Bylaw of the Town, which is identified <br /> by name by a sign or placard, shall clearly indicate on any such sign or placard the words <br /> "Private Driveway". Such designation shall be incorporated into or added to any new or existing <br /> sign or placard by letters of no less than one inch in height. The designation "Private Driveway" <br /> shall appear at the top of any such sign or placard indicating the name of a driveway. A fine of <br /> $50.00 per day shall be assessed to the owner of any such private driveway identified by a sign <br /> not containing the designation "Private Driveway" subsequent to December 1, 2004, upon <br /> notification, in writing, to said owner by the Director of Public Works or his/her designee, or <br /> take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Department of Public Works <br /> Explanation: When the public sees a street sign posted on a traveled way, they assume that the <br /> road is public or private, and has a status that has benefits attributed to such roads. Driveways <br /> are not subject to emergency repairs or snow and ice treatment by the Town of Mashpee. There <br /> is no oversight by the Town of Mashpee related to curb cuts or utility openings on "Private <br /> Driveways." Driveways can be closed or changed at the whim of the owner.
