(1) Roof-mounted. Mounted on the roof of a building. <br /> (2) Side-mounted. Mounted on the side of a building. <br /> (3) Ground-mounted. Mounted on the ground. <br /> (4) Structure-mounted. Mounted on a structure other than a building. <br /> OMNIDIRECTIONAL (WHIP) ANTENNA - A thin rod that beams and receives a signal in <br /> all directions. <br /> PANEL ANTENNA - A flat surface antenna, usually developed in multiples. <br /> PERSONAL WIRELESS SERVICE FACILITY - Facility for the provision of personal <br /> wireless services, as defined by the Telecommunications Act, including towers, poles, <br /> antennae and appurtenant structures. <br /> PERSONAL WIRELESS SERVICES - The three types of services regulated by this bylaw: <br /> commercial mobile radio services, unlicensed wireless services and common carrier wireless <br /> exchange access services. <br /> RADIOFREQUENCY (RF) ENGINEER - An engineer specializing in electrical or <br /> microwave engineering, especially the study of radiofrequencies. <br /> RADIOFREQUENCY RADIATION (RFR) - The emissions from personal wireless service <br /> facilities. (Regulated by the FCC "Guidelines for Evaluating the Environmental Effects of <br /> Radiofrequency Radiation"). <br /> SECURITY BARRIER - A locked, impenetrable wall, fence or berm that completely seals <br /> an area from unauthorized entry or trespass. <br /> SEPARATION -The distance between one carrier's array of antennas and another carrier's <br /> array. <br /> C. Permit process. <br /> A personal wireless service facility shall require a building permit in all cases and may be <br /> permitted as follows: <br /> (1) A personal wireless service facility may be located on any existing guyed tower, lattice <br /> tower, monopole, electric utility transmission tower, fire tower or water tower, <br /> provided that the installation of the new facility does not increase the height of the <br /> existing structure except as provided in Subsection E.(5) below. Such installations <br /> shall not require a special permit but shall require plan review (PR) approval by the <br /> town under the provisions of Subsection 174-24B. <br /> (2) Otherwise, no personal wireless service facility involving construction of one or more <br /> ground or building (roof or side) mounts shall be located in the town except upon <br /> Page 45 of 63 <br />
