Annual Town Meeting - March 6th, 1973 is Article 66: I ART 66 To see if the Town will vote. to increase the monthly-fee charged by a registered mobile home pazk on each trailer which rents space from $6.00 to $12.00. Submitted by Board of Assessors. 'RECOMMENDED` IL r t From the Floor: I move that Article 66 be indefinitely postponed. It also seems to be improper. The fee is not charged by the Park and Recreation. It is charged by the Town and administered by the Park Officials . Gordon Green: The Board of Assessors did not place this Article in the Warrant. However a statute was passed in 1972, which said the Board of Selectmen can increase park fees. Lady Senior Citizen: We did receive an Article. Someone wrote the Board of Assessors at the bottom. The General Laws enable the Board of Selectmen to increase the fee to $12.00 from $6.00. K.D.O'Connell : I think that a great many of the residents living in the Trailer Park today are now retired. Years ago this was not so. There were any number of familes with children. Since Otis closed there have not been near as many children from the Trailer Park in our School, because there are more older people living there. Any increase would be predicated on whether the Town would be losing money on account of the education of children. At this point another Senior Citizen, a lady, rose to i speak on Social Service and she pionted out that an increase w-cm.ld certainly be a hardship for these people living on small Social Service Pensions. K.D.O'Connell : We are having to keep our ol-der people in the Trailer Park. We need not raise the fee as long as we don't have more school children to educate. If that time ever l comes when we are heavily hit, then perhaps we will have to make changes and raise the fee.
