27. The Public Library has been remodeled, repaired and painted and is in good condition. This work was also adver- tised and the contract awarded to Mr. Harold Snowden of West Yarmouth. We have purchased another piece oflire equipment. We now have a total of three tank trucks with pumpers. This gives us much greater protection and coverage. We have also purchased a resuscitator through public subscription. This gives us greater protection in emergencies due to accidents. The Monomosoy Road has been surveyed and grounds set for a distance of seven thousand feet in from Red Brook Road. We hope to continue the survey on the balance of the road this year, and acquire a piece of land or beach at the end of the road for access to the water and a turn around or park- ing space. This is necessary in order for the Town to accept the layout of the road as.-required-by law. Chapter 81 and 90 highway reports were completed as per schedule and additional work is planned.for this year on these projects. Always a major problem is the Mashpee Pond Beach area. We appointed a Park Commission of three as instructed to. This year they will be elected by ballot. We hope that they will be able to work out a suitable program for our beaches and park lands. The work on the jetties at Popponesset Beach should commence soon, as the contracts for the bids have been awarded by the Dept. of Public Works. Additional jetty work is also sought for this year. This area is in very much need of further protection.
