31
I wish to state the great need for a full time patrolman.
The Town is expanding and the duties of our officers are be-
coming greater with that growth. It is impossible to have a
day patrol with the men working during the day to make a
living. Most of the work is performed in the evening and
night after regular working hours. With the exception of
some investigations and court appearances. We are request-
ing the Town to appropriate funds for a new police radio this
year. The present set has been repaired a number of times
this year and there is nothing more that can be done with it.
The set is obsolete and there is only one more on the Cape in
use, like it. We are unable to transmit and receive only in
certain locations of the Town. A new set is very essential.
Our other police equipment and properties are in good
condition.
I wish to thank the officers who worked with the depart-
ment, State Police, County Officials, Town Officials and others
who co-operated and rendered their assistance.
Respectfully submitted,
FRANK E. HICKS
Chief of Police
