Working on the budget of 2023. We're hoping for 6 seasonals next year.
One issue we have is sourcing seed. There's no way we can source from just one place. We're looking to
get creative for sources.
Dredging in Popponessett Bay got delayed from weather and some dredge repairs. It just started today
and should be done in about 2 weeks.
Mr. Cook said he agrees we should source from different hatcheries. He also suggested planting a bunch
of oysters for commercial use. You're talking about 4million-that's a lot of oysters. How are you going to
get rid of them? Mr. McElligatt said that's been on his mind, a big part of the wastewater plan is that
shellfish have to be removed. I don't know the answer right now. They want 3 million oysters removed
per year, so I need to have 9-10 million at any given time to remove 3 million. I also don't have the staff,
or right amount of gear, and there's a lack of boats. Mr. Thomas said this needs to happen sooner rather
than later, it's good we're talking about this now.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS
(This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be discussed)
ADJOURMENT
Mr. Holmes motioned to adjourned.
Mr. Christensen seconded the motion.
Vote: 6-0-0
Roll Call Vote:
Mr. McElligatt; yes
Mr. Christensen; yes
Mr. Pocknett; yes
Mr. Thomas; yes
Mr. Cook; yes
Mr. Holmes; yes
In favor, 6; Opposed, 0; Abstentions, 0
Meeting adjourned at 8:03pm.
Respectfully sybmitted,
tri 5E'wmg
Board Secretary
