Jill Allen, 1 ashpee resident - Asked if there is an
alternative to adopting a DCPC. She recognized the three
major areas of concern to be traffic, water, and
wastewater. She asked why the Town could not address these
issues without the need for a DCPC.
Beverly Kane responded by stating she would welcome
any such alternative and has raised the question herself.
She stated that based upon the inability of the Town, over
the past ten years to move forward on comprehensive
planning, the Planning Board believes that the DCPC process
would provide the structure/tire constraints needed to
address those areas- of concern outlined in the nomination.
Linda Fletcher, iashpee Resident i Stated her
agreement with the DCPC, commending the Planning Board for
stepping forward to take a leadership role within the Town.
She asked if the Board of Selectmen would conent this
evening, after having heard the views of the citizens.
Tien Le dham, I ashpee Resident - Stated he is not only
a resident of the Town but owns a business as well. He
spore to the growth of the Town, zoning, and economic
development plans. He questioned the goal of a DCPC at
this point in time, if only to change the zoning. He is
concerned with those i ndiv-i dua 1 s who .have made investments
in the Town years ago based upon the regulations and
planning at the time. He is feeling cautious, has made no
determination either for or against a DCPC, and has
questions about any proposed changes improvements he might
like to mare on his existing property.
Beverly Kane responded the wags and methods to solve
the issues would be explored. The process has not yet
begun, it is possible changes will be made to zoning and/or
bylaws. The areas of concern have not yet been determined.
Some difficult choices will have to be made. The Planning
Board has provided the opportunity for citizens to voice
concerns, which will be addressed and considered by the
Planning Board during the process .
Ray Bowman, 38 Hilltop Road - Commended the leaders of
the Town for taking this step. He spoke in f avor of a DCPC
for the Town. He is concerned with the use of parcels of
land for better salt water access, additional properties to
be developed for Town beaches, and traffic issues .
