t
R
built prior to the full completion of the development .
Cutting costs then only proved to be more expensive now.
Let us not, loose sight that they have openly admitted t
having been priory to this information for at least two
gears and they knew that this would be a problem because.
they did not add the upgrades as they expanded. Now that
p-roj ect has caught up to the maximum capacity that their
facility can tape without an upgrade . It is not acceptable
for them to ask us to accommodate their requests due t
purely financial reasons . The only reason being they d
not want to pay. Ghat about the rare lady slippers that
only grow in the deep goods environment, By carving out
10, 000 square feet of open space you open the forest canopy
-to changes that affect us all for the rest of our lives.
Wild-flowers are very different from -natural blueberry and
huckleberry bushes that are currently there naturally and
Stratford Pond's admits they cannot duplicate this
environment once it is grazed. We value open space as a
community and we want this area Dept as agreed. In light
f the proposals put before the Board we are fearful that
in your desire to be considerate and equitable in your
.pursuit of a decis-ion you could loose sight -of the
objective of maintaining open- space for Mashpee presidents .
The Stratford Ponds plan does not constitute an upgrade, it
is a downgraded solution to a perceived financial problem.
Do not male their lack of concern for our family'.s quality
of life a threat to our community. We deserve better as do
our children. our legacy is our concern, not the price we
can. fetch for a unit . We ask that you not allow arrogance
and privilege get in the way of your decision. The price
tag for Stratford Ponds community is currently 0 , 000 . 0 .
Our open space as preserved is priceless, " Signed, Karen
Cowan, [ aria-n Linwood, and Linda Linwood as Abutters.
Mrs . Linwood - Expressed her concern for the three
_ Ponds, being Amos, Naome, and' Coombs . She stated that
these ponds were gorgeous at one time and that they have
now become marshland.
There was some discussion regarding the condition a-nd
status of the required waling trail .
Walter Abbott - President of Stratford Ponds spore to
the maintenance of the nature trail . He stated that he had
installed signage on the path to direct walkers . There is
a rough trail on the site from route 10 to Stratford f
ll
