The Trustees have made every effort t <br /> minimize the impacts on the open- space. <br /> There will be restoration of the disturbed area 100 <br /> loo-ft . ) using native plant species. The buffer zone will <br /> be preserved; there will be no visibility either on or off- <br /> site. The replication of the lost open space will be <br /> located within the area where the leaching facilities <br /> currently exist . <br /> The Trustees decision to rove the leaching f"field <br /> outside of the envi onmentally sensitive area outba.lances <br /> the minimal impact to the open space. <br /> The DEP groundrater discharge permit limits total <br /> nitrogen to 1O. ppm. The Planning Board Special Permit <br /> requires the wastewater treatment plant to meet .5-ppm <br /> nitrate/nitrogen. <br /> Attorney Schaeffer stated that according to the <br /> engineering firm who maintain and operate the existing <br /> wastewater treatment plant (which was designed to meet the <br /> State requirement of 10-pp , agree that it is not feasible <br /> to consistently meet 5-ppm total nitrogen. The plant would <br /> have to be replaced or upgraded sign' ificantly. <br /> However, the Trustees have arranged for some upgrades <br /> and improvements to the plant that should be completed b <br /> the end of November. <br /> Attorney Schaeffer respectfully requested the Planning <br /> Board to consider not conditioning their approval in this <br /> matter to meet the 5-ppm nitrogen as is required in the <br /> Special Permit . <br /> The Chairman recognized Jack Carota, Prof e s i.ona l <br /> Engineer, who informed the Board that has been working <br /> with Mr. Rowley ire order to make additional details to the <br />
