feet from the actually building known as the Middle i s rou School.some
, .•E
I would surely be remiss in. not mentioning our g p e. oh
$100, 000 . 00 in property taxes which greatly helpthose who might
be unable to handle over 0 ght
$ 0 . 00 of property tax every year,
,i
but whose children enjoy today or will in the future be
privileged to attend our acre s ome $21 million dollar High School .
Please note, I know of only
on g e young adult attending Mashpee
Public Schools from the Q.v. Estates, But it is also inter
estingj
that few complaints were made by our group of families regarding
g ding
the use of our tax dollars to
provide better education for kids
and young adults in Mashpee. This, in spite of our knowing
the rs.
State allots far less money on a per pupil reimbursement to
Town than to almost any other Town or ' our
< city in the State. Well.
hope I have accomplished my mission to let you better know us
through me, and to help us as a group have a firm foundation on
which to present plans, ideas, concerns in order to solve PAN
problems, nor create them. I hope we will aid the concerned
citizens outside of our group, Town Planners and the Selectmen
make conscientious decisions based on conditions
as they exist
today, not as they were in 1971 or the earl 1980 r
Y ' s 0 in 1984 =j
when Tom inherited the Planner, in 1989 when a lot of studies ■
r
were made by some long. . .of studies were made in 1990 where those
plans were trashed except the one to do with the Town. Hall wer
e
trashed, except for the addition to the Middle School where
if y,
incidently even here it was placed on the wrong side of the
building. It caused, problems to do with r
p operty lines then and
surely now with its very close proximity to the r
p Y proposed bypass. .
We need to have something where everyone wins, not make a few
really big loosers for the sake of a few big winners.
While r f,
, ...
there are many serious concerns regarding the Job' s Fishing Road I
extension, such as a highwayfar too close to
a mayor school that
would present ideal conditions for child molesters, both locally
and from afar to operate, property devaluations
p, . ,p p y e aluat ions on a grand scale
for a number of families in Q.V. Estates, serious environmental
irk k+i
concerns regarding wildlife, fresh water supplies, the
destruction of most of the remaining natural woodland of this
once fairly large tract between Route 151 on the west an
d d o l d
Barnstable Road on the east. Serious deterioration of now clean
air our families enjoy due to the carbon monoxide from commercial c a1
and regular auto traffic so close by. Plus, those same
contaminants of vehicles where the bypass would join oldBarest 1 able ■ ■ ■
Road and, slowed traffic parked waiting lots of times f,=.
in the summer very near the school. Not a health item for the
e
kids in the Middle School. And m last item here would be the ,
tremendous Y x
increase in levels of traffic noise for Q.V. Estates,
and most certainly for the occupants of Middle School. ,, ,'F "►
Mr. Barrows stated he had spoken to the Superintendent of
Schools this date who ■
. i was aghast and surprised regarding the
actuality of what s happening with Job' s Fishing Road extension.
Mr. Barrows made reference to a two note from the 4
paragraph .,
Superintendent.
t.
-6- :
