Mashpee commons will go <br /> forward under the existing Commercials Center Bylaw, should the <br /> amendments being proposed not pass at Town Meeting in October. � <br /> MC,P and the Selectmen' s Subcommittee are of the opinion that <br /> the proposed amendments enhance and better protect the Planning <br /> Board and the Town as a whole* <br /> in Hastings �,mrs. g inquired as to why there is discussion <br /> regarding proposed amendments to regulations the State does not <br /> allow, specifically the wastewater treatment issue., <br /> The vice Chairman/Town Planner explained that regulations <br /> need not change in order for the Town to assume responsibility .. <br /> for the wastewater treatment plant, via the sewer Commission, at `+ ` <br /> tiA <br /> which point the properties could be sold. Also, there has been <br /> some discussion among local developer regarding a possible t, <br /> solution to reducing the amount of nitrogen going into the {� <br /> Mashpee River. <br /> 4 <br /> Mr. Baker stated his belief that the Town <br /> t would have to •;, <br /> build sewerage in order to accomplish what 'is being discussed, <br /> that the Mashpee Commons plant is not large enough to accommodate, Y <br /> their proposed project, let alone any other projects. <br /> The Town Planner agreed that someone would have to build 'rin , <br /> cap <br /> acity,acit and i i ��� <br /> p y, t s possible that the plant would be <br /> w <br /> expanded prior to the Town taking it over <br /> . r <br /> Mr. Baker cautioned speakers about making misleading <br /> statements regarding the taking of the Mashpee Commons treatment �{ <br /> plant, <br /> The Town Planner explained the focus of the Sewer Conmi s s ion J ' <br /> is to investigate the most cost effective means to remove the <br /> nitrogen out of the watersheds which includes removing the <br /> wastewater from the Mashpee Coons, Talani,an, and Windchime �:y <br /> projects. � <br /> � f <br /> Mr, Storrs commented that removal and/or reduction of new <br /> and existing effluent going into the Mashpee River watershed F, <br /> would greatly benefit the condition of the River. He mentioned <br /> Sandpiper, Mashpee Schools, Seami s t, and Deer Crossing as having 10' <br /> an impact upon the River.
