Maureen Paxton. Stated she is completely opposed to the
Echo Road location as the site for adult use zone based upon the
fact that it is located within such a heavy concentration of
neighborhoods and the bike path. She acknowledged the options
are few. She suggested the Planning Board consider all other
options for a location.
Dr. Marks: Expressed his feeling that businessmen in Town ; r
would not be in favor of creatinga zone in ta,
any area that could
possibly be developed. '
Diane Mulvey: Asked the Town Planner how many areas could
be considered if footage restrictions are imposed. Thomas Fudala
answered it would depend upon the restriction. Ninety-five (95W)
percent of the Town being residential, leaves very few other ,
areas. The area between Ashumet Road and Route 130 is the ,
largest non-residential area in Town. Diane Mulvey asked about '"
increasing the footage to 600 f t. Thomas Fudala said the only ,,,
other large areas would be Mashpee Industrial Park, which is an
Industrial Zone and the Mashpee Commons, which is mixed E
Residential . {{ ;
Eric Smith made the suggestion to prepare maps and numbers
of the Town for the next scheduled meeting in an attempt to
indicate different areas of the Town. Dennis Batzarini was in
agreement with this suggestion.
r
Dr. Marks: Suggested having some type of zoning restrictions
would be beneficial to the Town as it would send the message to
anyone considering opening an adult entertainment establishment
that the Town is on alert.
Dennis Balzarini asked whether or not creating a zone would
serve to attract attention to the Town. Eric Smith agreed this ?
to be a very important point.
ft
Maureen Paxton: Made the point that generally an owner of =
any such establishment would not construct a new building, but
rather buyin n '
to a existing building. She made the further
argument in favor of creating a zone in that someone coming into ,,
Mashpee with an adult entertainment establishment would have to r
build within the zone and there would be competition. whereas if
the existing establishment should close down, the Great Neck Road
location could not be used for adult entertainment purposes.
Diane Mulvey: Expressed her support f or impos i.ng f ootage
restrictions. She feels there would be .great opposition from °'' "
k
residents/businesses should the area fall within Mashpee Commons t,
or Deer Crossing. ;
Diane Mulvey: Inquired as to the possibility of imposing a
moratorium on this issue until a decision has been made by the
Town. The vice Chairman questioned whether or not Mashpee is in y €
—6— 11"
 II
iAlil
.o E
