The Marine Fisheries and <br /> Environmental Protection Agency would prefer the River not be , <br /> dredged. , <br /> Mr. Hanks requested permission to proceed with the next two <br /> steps discussed previously. Mr. Hanks suggested applying the <br /> data obtained by the County to obtain the elevations of the <br /> bottom of ockway Bay, Popponesset Bay, Mashpee River, and <br /> Shoestring Bay together with the water Quality Analysis being <br /> done for the waterways Management Committee in order to compile <br /> y g P <br /> a technical package to convince the EPA and Marine Fisheries of <br /> its value. <br /> In response to a question by Dennis Balzarini, Mr. Hanks <br /> explained the County is paid per cubic areas removed. They <br /> conduct a pre-dredge survey, dredging, and post-dredge survey. <br /> Maintenance dredging is to be completed this fall, at which time d, <br /> a pre-dredge survey will be done in order to determine how much <br /> has filled-in. <br /> Mr. Hanks informed the Board that only a portion of the <br /> Ninety Five Thousand ($95, 000 . 00) Dollars appropriated at Town <br /> Meeting for the purpose of maintenance dredging of waquoit and IN <br /> Popponesset has been spent. He does not anticipate having to ' <br /> return to waquoit this fall, there should be enough money to <br /> re--do the Popponesset area. <br /> Mr. Hanks requested payment of the bill as submitted by <br /> Aubrey; and support of the proposal to obtain further data, the ,; R <br /> next two steps as outlined. <br /> 0 <br /> The Board agreed to sign the voucher in the amount of <br /> $3, 500 . 00 as submitted by the waterways Commission.
