Analysis/Energy Use and Costs: Per capita
energy consumption for the Cape is lower than the state, however
the residents of Cape Cod pay $475 more annually. The census `T
inventory provides information on housing units occupied year '
round- -4 D natural gas; 3 0 W oil - and 24 W electric; the remaining ,
6% is attributed to wood and solar.
Incentives and Funding opportunities: 44% of the capers
usage was spent on residential energy. Houses built prior to
1975 are considered to be energy inefficient due to a lack of
building code and minimum energy standards (approximately 2, 371
in Mashpee) . State subsidies and fuel assistance programs have
been severely cut, providing very little incentive for families !
to make improvements.
i
i
Municipal Energy Efficiency: Heating and energy was not
9
