Box 208
Great Neck Road (North)
RE: Suggested Planting Plan for Restored Riparian Zone-Kenneth Litvak-I1 Taffrail Way
After conferring with architect David R. MaClean, Sabatia, Inc. submits this suggested plan for the buffer
zone-coastal area bordering the inlet offPoponessett Creek at I1 Taffrail Way:
The plant species suggested were selected with the following parameters in mind:
1. Native stock only and indigenous to the Cape and Islands and/or southeastern Massachusetts
2. Generally facultative in nature and able to flourish in seasonally moist sandy soils and salt spray
exposure
3. Stock availability in local nurseries
4. Providing documented attributes for wildlife in the way of escape cover, breeding areas or food
resources
The following list is only meant as a suggested variety which meet the above criteria. We have attached
Appendix A which includes a much larger number of Facultative to Facultative Wetland taxa(annotated
species only) native to the Cape and Islands.
Due to the bank's evidence of erosion and slumping in recent years, we also recommend an overseeding of
grass species which will stabilize the slope prior to shrub planting. We recommend Loft's "Reclaim
Conservation Mixtures"such as the"Reclaim Dry Mix" containing hard fescues and switchgrass or
"Reclaim Native Grass Mixture" with little bluestem, Indiangrass and switchgrass. Seeding rate is 80lbs/
acre. As single application of 10-10-10 organic fertilizer is recommended.
Correlating with Section I from the Maclean S-1 Plan dated 11/14/97 entitled"Proposed Sire Plan-
Additions and Alterations Litvak Residence New Seabury, MA", the following zones/resource areas
should be planted using these species and densities:
