Mashpee Select Board <br />Minutes <br />February 7, 2022 <br />Overview of the Fiscal Year 2023 Capital Improvement Program; <br />The Capital Improvement Program Committee has been working diligently recommending capital <br />projects to be funded through Capital Stabilization funds, MCAT, Ambulance Receipts and funds <br />available for appropriation (Free Cash). <br />The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) identifies $288,500 to the Department of Public Works to <br />continue their vehicle replacement program. Two vehicles are proposed to support the Fire <br />Department's request as well as replacing breathing stations and equipment. The total funding <br />amount is $215,000. <br />Addition capital requests include $50,000 to the Information Technology Department for software, <br />and $108,200 to the Department of Natural Resources for a truck and water quality improvements. <br />Funding in the amount of $2,064,805 is earmarked for several recommended Planning & <br />Construction improvements. <br />The CIP also recommended funding to conduct a $376,000 diagnostic study of Santuit Pond and to <br />implement water quality improvements to Mashpee/Wakeby Pond. <br />The Mashpee Middle/High School Track & Field project is recommended to be financed with <br />available Free Cash. Approval of this project would require a 2/3rd's vote at the May Town Meeting. <br />A capital proposal submitted by the Mashpee Archives to protect valuable items is proposed to be <br />presented to the Community Preservation Committee for funding consideration in October. <br />The Capital Improvement Plan in its entirety will be presented to the Select Board at their February <br />28th meeting. <br />The Select Board was in unanimous agreement to support the FY 2023 budget recommendations of <br />the Town Manager as initially identified. <br />TOWN MANAGER UPDATES <br />Due to technicalities, the formal name change of the Board of Selectmen to the Select Board has not <br />been approved. This is expected to be rectified. <br />It was reported there has been 12 new positive cases of COVID, 36 current in Mashpee with 23 <br />moved out of isolation. <br />
