Burtis) for a Special Permit under Section 5. 1, 6.2 and + <br /> 6.3 of the Zoning By-laws to allow for the expansion and change of <br /> I„ a non-conforming structure and use in an R-3 zoning district on <br /> property located at 15 Riverside Road (Map 119, Block 88) Mashpee, MA. <br /> h rdance with Massachusetts <br /> Notice was duly given to abutters in acco <br /> General Laws Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication in The <br /> I+ Enterprise, a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Mashpee, <br /> on May 8 and May 15, 1989,_ a copy of which is. attached hereto and <br /> made a part hereof. <br /> A public hearing was held on the Petition at the Mashpee Town <br /> 1989 at 7:30 p.m. at which time the <br /> Hall on Wednesday, May 24, <br /> following members of the Board of Appeals were present and acting <br /> throughout: Cheryl A. Hawver, William J. Hanrahan and Richard E. Halpern. * <br /> Mr. William E. Burtis represented his Petition. He informed the <br /> Board that a boatyard had been in operation at the location since <br /> 1903 and that he purchased the property in 1978. In addition to the <br /> boatyard operation the property included 14 rental cottages. He <br /> explained that he had an offer to sell the property for condominium <br /> development but he and his family decided to [urn their efforts to <br /> .�, modernizing and improving the boatyard. <br /> In 1986 he obtained a building permit for a rack storage system. <br /> He proceeded to demolish 11 of the rental cottages on the lot and <br /> remove 13 septic systems to provide space for the rack storage and <br /> parking. <br />
