Mashpee Select Board <br />Minutes <br />April 11, 2022 <br />Discussion and Possible Action with Regard to the November 25 2021 Fence Line Incident: <br />102nd Intelligence Wing Colonel Timothy Gordon Colonel Sean Riley: <br />The Mashpee Select Board met with Colonel Timothy Gordon and Colonel Sean Riley of the 102nd <br />Intelligence Wing of Joint Base Cape Cod to review an incident which occurred near the fence line on <br />November 2021. <br />Colonel Riley discussed the specifics of the incident which was clearly investigated and determined to be a <br />hunting accident. In concern to the safety and well-being of the men and women under his command, and <br />to the general public, Colonel Riley indicated that fortunately there was no bodily harm. This was clearly <br />an accident which involved damage to a military vehicle. <br />To protect and to prevent this type of incident from re -occurrence additional No Trespassing/No Hunting <br />signage is planned along the 500' buffer of federal land. Colonel Riley respectfully requested the Select <br />Board allow the posting of signage as referenced within the Town of Mashpee easements at the 500' buffer <br />areas that JBCC does not fully control for safety purposes. <br />Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to authorize the Town Manager to work with the 102nd <br />Intelligence Wing to post signage in the easement areas along the fence line up to 500' for safety. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes Selectman Gottlieb, yes <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes Opposed, none <br />ADDITIONAL TOPICS (This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate <br />would be discussed) <br />Letter of Support for Resubmission to the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program: <br />Motion made by Selectman Cotton to add the above referenced topic to the Select Board's agenda. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Weeden. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0-1. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes Selectman Gottlieb, abstained <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes Opposed, none <br />It was disclosed Selectman Gottlieb abstained from voting on this matter due to a work -related conflict. <br />Of importance was late -filed communication from the Director of Natural Resources requesting a letter of <br />support in the submission of an additional proposal for grant funding through the Municipal Vulnerability <br />Program in May. The submission includes the 2nd Phase Santuit Stormwater Retrofit Design construction <br />and is contingent upon the passing of Article #20 at the May Town Meeting for the 25% match in funds. <br />
