Bill Thompson, Dave Warden and Becky Smith from IEP
presented their work. Presented a handout of the summary of
water quality analysis which has been conducted to date.
Becky Smith stated the 9 occupied unit are discharging less
than 2 , 000 gallons per day to the leaching -area.
Under full development it will discharge more than 30,000
gallons per day to the waste water treatment plant.
They presented a map which showed monitoring wells installed
by IEP.
Since Dec of 1988 they have conducted water quality testing
of these 4 wells . They have also produced a water table map
which shows groundwater flowing northeast to the Mashpee
River.
Water Quality on site is very good. It is improving from
upgradient to downgradient. There is no septic plume
emanating from leaching fields at Windchime.
Future work will include: installation of another monitoring
well and 3 in wetlands along Mashpee River and they will
test all 8 wells and surface water sampling of Mashpee River
and botanical sampling. This will bring Windchime Point
into compliance with their monitoring agreement.
Bill Thompson stated that there is some degradation of water
quality occurring upgradient of the site.
Tom asked what is the time of travel from upgradient to
downgradient well? Could be Highwood Water plume moving
through.
Bill stated that typically it flows 1 foot per day.
He stated that they are not looking at the effects of
Highwood Water but of the effects of this development on
groundwater.
There is a spike upgradient in Oct. which may indicate
loading from septic systems from Fields Point.
This septic system is designed for 9, 000 gal. and is
receiving only 2, 000 gal. per day
Louise asked how far is septic system from downgradient
well?
Becky stated that it is 100 feet from monitoring well 4 .
Pat stated that it needs looking at since they cannot track
fully what comes onto your site but are blamed for what goes
out.
Bill stated that all they can do is track change of water
quality across the site.
Wayne asked if they could try to establish the travel time .
Tom asked if they had seen the GZA work, it is available.
Fields Point is doing additional work toward their EIR.
There were no public questions or comments regarding the,
water quality monitoring.
Tony stated that one of the major issues is that there has
been no communication for some time between project and the
Board. There needs to be an adjusted phasing schedule .
- 3 --
