Public Health concerns of 2017 included <br /> Report of the hoarding, groundwater contamination, rodents and <br /> Board of Health housing. A more detailed summary is provided below: <br /> In 2016, the Mashpee Board of Health was <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and Citizens involved with the first mandatory cleanout of a <br /> of the Town of Mashpee: residential condominium that had sanitary code <br /> violations due to hoarding. The private <br /> properties were either connected to Town water or <br /> Revenues generated by the Board of Health provided bottled water until treatment units could be <br /> during 2017 as compared to 2016 are as follows: retro-fitted on the water supply lines. Lakeside Estates <br /> 2017 2016 has had an entire new water supply system installed in <br /> Perk tests 9,300.00 7,600.00 the trailer park. The residential water connections and <br /> Septic permits 22,000.00 19,300.00 Lakeside Estates project were completed by the end of <br /> Septic Inspection Reports 15,575.00 9,425.00 2017. <br /> Well permit 2,050.00 1,800.00 The housing concerns of the past year include <br /> Installer's permits 7,250.00 8,400.00 rental of residential properties and a rise in rodent <br /> Septic pumpers 4,200.00 3,900.00 populations throughout the Town. On-line advertising <br /> Trailer parks 19,208.00 18,092.00 of rental properties like AirBnB, Homeaway, etc. are <br /> Pool permits 3,700.00 3,300.00 increasing the availability of short-term rentals. <br /> Motel permits 600.00 800.00 Problems with the short-term rentals have been an <br /> Food permits 22,680.00 26,843.00 increase in instances of over-crowding,traffic,parking <br /> Stable permits 450.00 780.00 issues and noise. The board is proposing a new <br /> Misc.permits 2,376.00 2,669.00 regulation for permitting of the rental properties in <br /> Trash haulers 6,500.00 6,000.00 Town. A request for an additional agent will be made <br /> Tobacco sales permits 950.00 1,150.00 at Town Meeting in 2018. To help with ongoing issues <br /> Fines 13,351.00 4,333.00 with rodents, the board promulgated a rodent <br /> Housing Reimbursement 40,499.00 0.00 inspection requirement for dwellings that will be razed <br /> TOTAL REVENUES $170,689.00 $114,393.00 and rebuilt. The presence of bird feeders, raising <br /> backyard chickens, and composting appear to be <br /> contributing to the increase in rodents. <br /> 110 <br />
