The Board of Directors submitted a proposal for Gardeners from 2020 were given priority for <br /> 2019 Community Preservation Act(CPA)funding of a assignment of their same garden plot in 2021 if <br /> Community Garden Reconstruction Plan to the Town requisite forms and$20 annual plot fee payment were <br /> of Mashpee's Community Preservation Committee in sent to the Town by March 1st. All 20 gardeners <br /> the fall of 2018.The project was approved for inclusion renewed their applications,which made it increasingly <br /> in the May 2019 Town Warrant that was considered and clear to the MCGAC Board that there was an obvious <br /> passed at the May 2019 Town Meeting. Construction need to explore options for 2022 garden expansion. By <br /> began in early spring 2020,and included 20 new,8 foot the end of the 2021 calendar year there were 25 <br /> by 12 foot garden beds (50% bigger than the original applicants on the Wait List, chronologically <br /> garden beds)constructed of 2 inch by 12 inch lumber, accumulated during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. <br /> with 5 foot tall garden fencing. Plans were in place for <br /> future fruit and herb gardens and a native plant display. After conferring with the Mashpee Historic <br /> District Commission, the MCGAC Board submitted <br /> ACTIVITIES another Community Preservation Act funding proposal <br /> Board of Directors meetings are open to the to the Mashpee Community Preservation Committee <br /> public and are held the third Wednesday of every month (CPC)in October 2021. In early January 2022 the CPC <br /> at Town Hall. unanimously approved the proposal for garden <br /> expansion to provide 14 additional garden beds <br /> The first full season of gardening commenced in measuring 4' x 8'. They forwarded the proposed <br /> May 2020. The community garden was fully occupied Warrant article to the Select Board for their approval <br /> immediately and there was a seasonal waiting list. and inclusion in the Town Warrant for May 2022 Town <br /> Meeting. <br /> Garden plot applications are available on the Respectively submitted, <br /> Mashpee Community Garden Advisory Committee <br /> (MCGAC)web site and are posted by mid-January for Virginia Scharfenberg, Chair <br /> Mashpee residents to download.
