<br />Human Resources
<br />Department
<br />To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the
<br />Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
<br />The Human Resources Department is committed
<br />to serving the Town of Mashpee employees in the most
<br />efficient and effective way possible. Our services
<br />include recruitment, compensation and benefits
<br />management, payroll, staff training and development,
<br />labor law compliance, employee relations and human
<br />resource management.
<br />Additionally, the Department deals with a wide
<br />variety of issues relative to quality of life in the
<br />workplace and seeks to improve the effectiveness of
<br />town services by recruiting responsible, qualified
<br />personnel and by retaining and developing current staff.
<br />Mashpee is committed to the pursuit of a diversified
<br />workplace.
<br />We are a resource Department that provides
<br />assistance and support to all managers and employees
<br />on personnel matters. Our Department is designed to
<br />help managers and employees do their jobs more
<br />efficiently and effectively.
<br />The Department handles personnel transactions
<br />relating to vacancy postings and advertising,
<br />interviewing, selection, enrollment and orientation of
<br />new employees, promotions, transfers, retirements, and
<br />resignations.
<br />In addition to year-round hires, we coordinate the
<br />hiring of seasonal employees for the Recreation Beach
<br />and Summer Camp Staff, Boat Ramp Attendants,
<br />Seasonal Laborers and Custodians for the Department
<br />of Public Works, Town Clerk's Sticker Sales, Assistant
<br />Harbormasters and Waterways Assistants.
<br />We tracked performance appraisals and
<br />probationary reports, tracked leave of absences,
<br />assisted with budget information, prepared the town's
<br />unfunded liability report, processed and checked
<br />employee change of status forms, coordinated entry-
<br />level physicals and drug and alcohol testing under the
<br />Department of Transportation Laws, attended
<br />grievance hearings, Safety Meetings, American With
<br />Disabilities Act Committee Meetings, Town Meetings,
<br />and the annual Cape Cod Municipal Health Group
<br />Benefits Meeting.
<br />New rate schedules and contract updates were
<br />also prepared through this Department and contractual
<br />rate changes were verified and implemented.
<br />The Human Resources Department staff is
<br />responsible for management of new employee
<br />orientation and benefit enrollment; administers and
<br />coordinates open enrollment and on -going
<br />communication with employees and vendors for the
<br />Town's health insurance, life insurance and dental
<br />insurance programs, retirement and 457 plans, short-
<br />term disability plans, and pre-tax plans, and an eye med
<br />program. We provide information about the Town's
<br />Employee Assistance Program. We also assist with
<br />providing information for unemployment claims,
<br />attend hearings and prepare the filing for the Town's
<br />seasonal designation with the Mass. Division of
<br />Unemployment. We processed employment
<br />verification requests and provided statistical
<br />information for State and Federal EEO reports.
