Highlights from Cape Cod Tech <br />2015-16 School Year <br />Cape Cod Regional Technical High School <br />District's application for assistance from the <br />Massachusetts School Building Authority for a new or <br />renovated school building was accepted. Significant <br />progress made during this school year: a school <br />building committee was established, the owners project <br />manager hired, an architect firm hired, and a project <br />schedule established. For more information go to: <br />http: //Www.capetech.usldomainl5O <br />• Graduated 145 seniors in June 2016, thirteen from <br />Mashpee. <br />• CCRTHS students meet the same academic <br />standards required by the state as our sending <br />schools. <br />• Improved public and community relations by <br />servicing community members in our shops at the <br />school allowing communities to realize <br />significant savings in labor charges. <br />• Forty students received John and Abigail Adams <br />Scholarships, four from Mashpee. <br />• Seventy two students were inducted to the <br />National Technical Honor Society, four from <br />Mashpee. <br />• At the SkillsUSA State level competition, 53 <br />students attended of which 12 students won <br />medals, and one from Mashpee. From the state <br />competition, eight students qualified for the <br />National Skills and Leadership competition. <br />• At the SkillsUSA District level competition, 45 <br />students attended of which 9 students medaled <br />and 1 from Mashpee. Medals won: Information <br />Technology, Marine Service Technology, <br />Culinary Arts and Teamworks in Carpentry, <br />Electrical, Mason and Plumbing. <br />• At the Massachusetts 2016 Future Farmers of <br />America (FFA) State Convention, fourteen <br />student awards were received by 9 students; 1 <br />award won by 1 student from Mashpee. wards <br />received: Chapter Exhibit (1 st Place) , Reporter's <br />Book (1st Place), Floriculture (2nd Place), Power <br />Systems Agriscience Fair (2nd Place), <br />Environmental/Natural Resource Systems <br />Agriscience Fair (3rd Place), Turf Management <br />(3rd Place), State Convention Courtesy Corp <br />Recognition, and FFA Chapter 100% <br />Membership Award. <br />• Auto Collision had a 100% graduation rate of <br />12th grade students with emphasis to connect <br />them to industry. Co-operative education <br />placements were increased aiding industry output. <br />• Auto Technology improved their web -based text <br />book curriculum and used Google Classroom on <br />a daily basis. All loth, llth, and 12th graders <br />became certified in SP2 Safety and more than half <br />became ASE certified. <br />• The Carpentry Department was busy building <br />projects both within the school and in the <br />community from quilt frames for Bayberry <br />Quilters to picnic tables for a district town office. <br />Math skills were improved by demonstrating their <br />use in the trade; reading and writing projects were <br />emphasized in the curriculum. <br />• In Cosmetology, all eight seniors graduated and <br />are working in full time cosmetology positions <br />with state licenses. All juniors passed their state <br />nail technician exam and OSHA certification. <br />• Culinary accomplished improved enrollment and <br />student retention within the shop. The program <br />received accreditation from the American <br />Culinary Federation. The Cove Restaurant <br />continues to be open to the public four days per <br />week. <br />• Dental Assisting implemented initiatives aimed <br />at preparing students for college and career <br />opportunities; as well as upgrading technology <br />and equipment to reflect industry standards. Eight <br />seniors achieved MA Certification in Radiology; <br />all seniors participated in 5-week internships; four <br />juniors took and passed the Dental Assisting <br />National Boards. <br />• Early Childhood Education increased freshman <br />enrollment by 40% and successfully launched a <br />new screening instrument in their Preschool. Ten <br />students were placed on teaching internships. <br />• The Electrical Department developed a new <br />exploratory process for resulting in full freshman <br />capacity and increased their Co-operative <br />Education placements to 14, their highest rate. A <br />team of 10 students won a silver medal from <br />SkillsUSA District competition in Marlboro, MA. <br />156 <br />
