First, thanks to Terrie Cook for giving me a copy of the Town's contract with Mashpee TV. Thanks also to Chris Ball of MTV, the Town Manager and the Assistant Manager for answering my many questions about this. it looks like the Town has enough flexibility in the contract with Mashpee TV to allow the Town Manager to add the Affordable Housing Committee meetings to MTV's recording and broadcasting schedule. First, the contract doesn't specify a limit on the number of meetings to be recorded. It also doesn't put a dollar figure on each recording. Rather, the contract is for a fixed amount. Second, while the contract does include specific Boards and Committees, the list is not exclusive of others. In fact, the contract provides that other meetings can be added to the schedule with a week's notice. I understand that the Town determines the schedule and sends It to MTV each week. Third, the contract calls for recording Board of Health and FinCorn meetings, but these haven't been on MTV's schedule since March of this year. So, we are paying for services that we haven't been requesting and, thus, not receiving. Fourth, there have been five Affordable Housing Committee meetings recorded and archived in the past, so there is precedent. Here's a summary of viewership of all MTV videos. Even though there hasn't been a recording of the Affordable Housing Committee meetings since April of last year, Affordable Housing as a topic is more popular than the ZBA and only slightly less popular than the Sewer Commission. These totals include meetings with the Affordable Housing Trust and joint meetings with the Select Board. For all these reasons, I urge the Select Board to authorize the Town Manager to add Affordable Housing Committee meetings to the MTV schedule. Thank you.
