He w eat on to say he f eels <br /> it I s in the best 'Interest of the Town to approve Mr. Tavares' -plans. He said he <br /> would like to go on record as being in favor of the variance and the support of <br /> the Planning Board at Town Me e t ing. <br /> Mr. Terry- said he wanted to make it clear that we aren't talking about a variance <br /> but a coning change. He then asked Mr. Maxim what his thoughts would be if he <br /> told him what Mr. Tavares Wants to do is allowable under the present zoning. <br /> Mr. T$ilaxim said -what Mrs, Tavares is proposing to use this land for is not age._ <br /> cultural use but for retail use o commercial. He also said Mr. Tavares has to <br /> satisfy his creditors and if at a future time Mr. Collins i sn'.t the building <br /> inspector, there may be objections to the land use. Mr. Tavares has to think <br /> of this business in the long range and he feels he's proceeding in the right <br /> directions <br /> The Board then recognized John. Slavin.sky _who wanted to go on record as being in <br /> favor of the age. <br /> Mr. Katz suggested that they close the hearing as there Were no more tho ht s or <br /> commnt s. <br /> Mr. Terry felt there should be some discussion of the situation. He brought up <br /> the fact. that changes have been, made as to the number of lots involved and it <br /> might be confusing, <br /> Mr. Tavares stated it was changed only after the whim of the Pla=ing Beard and <br /> they followed it to the letter What the Bo=d lv anted. <br /> r. Terry again stated he felt the use was allowable nog+ under present zoning <br /> and felt Mr. Bot ell.o didn't have to gush into it for the special town meeting and <br /> the whole zone could be looked at for the May town meeting. He felt there's a <br /> problem with the remaining lot s of this area, and some pl,a should be done. <br /> Mr. Jonas felt that Was . Derr s op�on and he felt this M as the best use of <br /> the land and the sooner it I s done, the- better and he-doesn't need a. lanna-ng <br /> consultant to tell him anything different. <br /> Mr. Terry asked if Mr. Collins vianted to be heard and he responded that it's got <br /> to be the choice of the town meeting. <br /> Ms. Stone said she felt the public hearing tonight was for 2 parcels and -we should <br /> have confined it to that.' She said if there M s a, problem V i th going for more than. <br /> the 2 parcels at this time, confine it to the 2 and 'preface your recommendation <br /> with the fact that this is to be direction it ought to go and take care of the <br /> other lots when -the time e comes. She also so said it still l.e ave s it up to the <br /> Pla ing Board to discuss -and. come up with a recommendation. <br /> 8 <br /> .
