11 <br />Mashpee Select Board <br />Minutes <br />August 7, 2023 <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Discussion with Fpgard to Pickleball:Marie Cheung-Truslow: (continued) <br />Aerial photographs were reviewed in the presentation depicting the existing pickleball courts, the forested area <br />and the home of the objecting neighbor, a distance of 264'. It was disclosed the complaints from the objecting <br />neighbor will be never ending. No other petitions or complaints have been received. <br />Discussion followed with respect to the meeting held with Mr. Barrows, the Town Manager and with <br />Selectman Weeden on July 26, 2023 to attempt to reach a compromise. At the meeting it was asserted by Mr. <br />Barrows for the Town to close the pickleball courts down completely and effective immediately. There was no <br />middle ground, shut down or no compromise. The Town Officials listened with empathy. Without going to <br />the full Select Board, the demands were beyond their control, and ended the discussion. Subsequently, Mr. <br />Barrows was noted to call the Town Manager stating he would cooperate and consent to a noise measuring <br />test. <br />Discussion followed. Selectman Cotton made full disclosure, he is an avid pickleball players, and feels there is <br />no conflict of interest in voting on this matter. There is no financial gain. He enjoys outdoor sports. <br />Motion made by Selectman Sherman to reinstate the Sunday pickleball, and move forward with an <br />additional sound test with the condition Mr. Barrows would consent to the sound test on his property. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Wyman -Colombo. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0-1. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, abstained <br />Selectman Wyman -Colombo, yes Opposed, none <br />Discussion of Amendin Select Board Policy 001: <br />_...........__ .. <br />ppo ntmentmPolic � for Boards Commissions Committees &mCouncils: <br />The Select Board conducted the final review of Policy 001; Appointment Policy for Boards, Commissions, <br />Committees and Councils (Appointed by the Select Board) as amended. A brief discussion followed. <br />Motion made by Selectman Wyman -Colombo to approve Select Board Policy 001 as written with the <br />appendix; Preliminary Evaluation Form. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Weeden. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes <br />Selectman Wyman -Colombo, yes Opposed, none <br />
