<br />MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />September 20, 2023 7:00 P.M. <br />Popponesset Meeting Room <br /> <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER: Chair Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Virginia Scharfenberg, Kirsten Nordstrom, Frank Gallello <br />GUEST ATTENDEES: Board member applicants: Roslyn Robinson Mann, Brian Logan, Polly Minugh <br /> <br />Communications & Correspondence: <br /> Joe Salvo requesting to move to plot 12 to be closer to the parking lot and the hose. Joe is also requesting <br />permission to plant garlic to over winter. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> Transition in Board Leadership from Virginia Scharfenberger to Kirsten Nordstrom completed. Ginny’s <br />resignation letter was submitted and effective as of September 28, 2023. NOTE: The board will be <br />accepting Ginny’s resignation at the November 13, 2023 mtg of the Board. <br />th <br /> DPW schedule for garden debris pile removal. Ginny contacted Catherine and recommended Nov 10 for <br />pickup. Ginny also communicated that the blue barrel will no longer be needed for diseased plants since it <br />wasn’t being used appropriately. Finally, Ginny asked the DPW to confirm amount of remaining budget <br />available to purchase new plants for the native garden. <br /> <br />Proposal to become Land Stewards for the two pollinator gardens overseen by Conversation Department. <br /> Virginia to check with Asst. Conservation Agent Dan Kent about the possibility of dividing some of the 2 <br />pollinator gardens’ native grasses and planting them in our Native Plant demo garden. <br /> There may be some budget left to plant additional plants in our Native Plant demo garden. Jan Towne had <br />suggested a variety of native plant possibilities: Golden Rod, Asters, Phlox, high bush blueberries, Baptisia, <br />Rudbekia, cone flower. We would need to determine the number of plants to purchase and whether to do <br />so now for fall planting or wait until spring 2024. <br />thth <br /> Results of queries will be discussed at September 20 ???? Board meeting – want to say October 18? <br />DPW <br /> Virginia to contact Catherine Laurent again about adding more cubicles in the shed to accommodate <br />additional gardeners. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
