16 Great Weck RoadWorth
-Mashpee, -Massachusetts 02649
nominated to the national register. Add rebuilding the Attaquin Hotel for workforce housing or
incubator space.
Ms. Waygan stated incubator would stand out like a sore thumb, if the hotel gets recreated it
will be a public meeting space. She wouldn't even do workforce or attainable, keep it historic.
Across the street has land bank land that is supposed to stay in natural state. You can replace
it with land bought by the CPC but it has to be really strategic, if there is some land coming up
at Town Meeting, the timing would have to be right.
Mr. Oakley added counsel or work with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe to establish a location.
Adopt a demolition delay bylaw as carryover from the 1998 plan.
Mr. Lehrer stated we have a historic district without many structures, why would we require
demo delay, due to the historic area being on the national register and cannot be demolished.
It would pertain to one single property in the district, the Bell Johnson house at 278 Main St. It
was noted to strike 6. Mr. Lehrer stated the Historic District exists because of the Dunkin
Donuts.
Mr. Lehrer continued he is ready for the consultants to compile this together in a document. He
is trying to work towards a reasonable consensus. He prefers to take written comments and
edit them. Implementation sections and all chapters are in enough of a form to compile and
present the first proper draft implementation and ideally shoot for a preliminary review for the
end of June. The Warrant Article can be submitted by July to at least reserve a place on the
warrant for adoption. In July/August it will be sent to the Cape Cod Commission for their Public
Comment period. August- September those comments will be addressed, and the final
document will be prepared for October. Final changes are certified by the CCC.
Ms. Faulkner moved on with Historic and is in favor of all. She inquired about monuments
being suggested for that area.
Mr. Lehrer named Earl Mills Sr., there is a policy about naming things, the Historical
Commission will discuss on Thursday at their meeting.
Ms. Waygan acknowledged he is someone from this part of town, but some of our Tribal
members are internationally known. She would rather have a symbol than a specific person.
She has heard the park over here referred to as wasted space. Items 13-15 look good, if it is
not mutually advantageous then we don't do it. She would like to take the next week and go
over Open Space and leave that on the agenda and provide comments next time on the last
two items.
BOARD ENGINEER REPORT
Mr. Pesce made a note of Mr. Dorsey at Ockway Highlands. He will speak to Catherine
Laurent about the hold ups. The speed radar sign is in possession of the DPW. The ongoing
stock pile and dirt is substantially mitigated.
01
